As we head back into the 2012 lacrosse season from Spring Break, we wanted to provide you with a couple of videos and their links on Concussion Information that we feel are important for everyone to watch.
These videos are not intended to be alarming, but may be, they are intended to provide each one of our members with information that is important to the safety, health and welfare of our players.
Many youth leagues around the country use modifications to the rules. US Lacrosse strongly endorses that the uniform youth lacrosse rules included in the NFHS rule book (boys) and the US Lacrosse rule book (girls) be used for youth play.
High School Rules
Rules for high school play are written by the NFHS.
Youth and High School Rules
US Lacrosse writes the rules for youth girls' lacrosse. Visit the Youth Rules 2012 page for additional information. US Lacrosse also writes the rules for high school girls'/women's lacrosse, which are endorsed by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
The new US Lacrosse youth rules that take effect with the 2012 season will be published in both the US Lacrosse Women's Rule Book and a new guidebook available for players, coaches, umpires and parents. While some youth leagues may modify some of the rules for league games, the US Lacrosse youth rules as published will govern non-league games and the US Lacrosse Regional and National Championships. The new youth rules were developed with a focus on player development, team play, sportsmanship and safety, and US Lacrosse encourages their adoption by youth girls' leagues across the country.
College Rules
Rules for varsity college play are written by the NCAA. WCLA (non-varsity) play is governed by USL rules.
